Join the Kalamazoo Plant It Forward community for a vibrant, all-ages Plant Swap where plants, friendships, and confidence ALL have room to grow!
Now in its sixth year, the Kalamazoo Plant Swap brings together plant lovers of all experience levels to trade greenery, share knowledge, and build connections that keep our local plant community blooming. Whether you’re a seasoned swapper with a table full of propagated favorites to swap or brand new to the plant world with a single cutting and lots of curiosity, there’s a place for you here—and a whole community of plant people who can’t wait to meet you!
Only swaps and giveaways are allowed—no plant sales or transactions.
Any healthy, pest-free indoor or outdoor plants (fresh cuttings, rooted babies, or full-grown favorites) that you’re ready to part with. Trades can be one-for-one or more spontaneous—many swappers bring extras just to share the love! There are no limits to how many plants you can bring to the swap, but please plan to arrive early to claim the table space you’ll need if you’re bringing a small jungle!
Registration runs from 10am-11am and you are welcome to arrive any time (though table space can go fast in the first half hour!)
Stop by the Registration Table when you arrive for a nametag and entry into the Plant Swap Giveaway. First time at a swap? Let us know when you arrive—we can’t wait to meet you and tell you all about what to expect!
Come when you can, leave when you need—but the main swap and giveaway begins at 11:00am sharp. To keep things fair for everyone, no trades before 11:00am please!
Have extra plants or propagations to gift to others as they grow their own collections? Drop them off at the Free Plant Table for attendees to take freely—no swap required! You’re also welcome to leave pots, planters, and plant-related accessories that you no longer need. The Free Plant Table is also great for new swappers who don’t have much to trade yet; our generous swap community makes sure everyone walks away with something green and growing!
Questions or first-time jitters? We love welcoming new swappers (especially kids and beginners!) If you're not sure what to bring or how it works, just ask! Email event organizer Jaynie Fawley at jaynie.fawley@gmail.com and we’ll help you feel swap-ready.
Check our events calendar for more scheduled plant swaps!
