Presenters will detail the medical landscape in Michigan today, explain advanced directives and why everyone should complete theirs, review dementia's nuances, and explain medical-aid-in-dying.
Registration required
Through this interactive presentation, Compassion and Choices members will detail the medical landscape in Michigan today, explain advanced directives and why everyone should complete theirs, review dementia’s nuances and explain medical-aid-in-dying. Presenters will guide participants through slightly humorous, thoughtful, interactive questions and show a brief movie clip. Our Michigan Action Team members are trained to present clear, accurate information about end-of-life autonomy and equally important, clarify any preconceived misconceptions. We foster a comfortable atmosphere that promotes open dialogue for the audience. Relevant handouts are available, as well as the opportunity to chat with our presenters.
Our presentation covers many relevant topics to empower each individual to think about and choose an end-of-life care plan that’s best for them without coercion or undue influence.
Our program is a little less than an hour long. It’s a hybrid of "lecture" style presentation, interactive discussion questions, a brief video, and handouts, and our presenters stay afterward to answer individual questions.
Our presenters do not offer a full audience Q&A per se. We have found that some people are more comfortable discussing personal questions one-on-one with our presenters versus speaking in front of an entire audience of strangers. However, we provide as much time as necessary after the presentation has concluded to chat with anyone who has a question, comment, or a story to tell.
Compassion & Choices’ mission is to improve care, expand options, and empower everyone to chart their end-of-life journey. Their vision is a society that affirms life and accepts the inevitability of death, embraces expanded options for compassionate dying, and empowers everyone to choose end-of-life care that reflects their values, priorities, and beliefs. https://compassionandchoices.org/in-your-state/michigan
