Chef Anthony Cox will teach the history of Ramen, how it is made, how to make it, and sample it!
Registration Required
In 60 minutes, we will attempt to cover the history and origin of Ramen as it came from Korea to Japan, common broth bases, flavorings and their differences, regional toppings, and noodles, of course- what they are, how they are made and which ones are best for which kind of broth. All while showing how you can make amazing Ramen at home without the packets or styrofoam cups. Some ingredients take multiple days to prepare, so just like Food Network magic, the process will be demonstrated, but the resulting product will be prepared ahead of time. As supplies last, there will be samples of our Miso Ramen.
About the Chef
Anthony Cox is originally from the north suburbs of Detroit. Anthony has been working in restaurants since he was 14 years old. His grandmother taught him to cook as a teen, and he attended culinary school at Oakland Community College. He's traveled the country working in kitchens in 7 different states, serving all sorts of cuisine from large-scale cafeterias in Yellowstone National Park to a 5-star/5-diamond hotel in Aspen, Colorado. He traveled to Japan in high school and then later lived in the mountains of Nagano prefecture with his wife, Emily. While he has held other jobs, food has always been his passion. A lifelong love of Asia (he once minored in Asian Art History!) has led him to focus on Japanese cuisine for his first solo restaurant venture. He looks forward to connecting with people over a bowl of curry or ramen and sharing his love of Japan with others.
